Are you Effing Kidding me…Honors (II)

I watched a guy in the gym last week destroy his shoulder and he didn’t even know it…however, pain leaves clues, the problem…this guy was clueless.
He started his Monday workout like most people do with “Bench Press Monday.” He walked into the gym from the outside where the temperature was in the thirties, and headed to the bench. No warm up, no progression…he just put his weight on and starting lifting.
After his first set, he grabbed his left shoulder and had a grimace on his face. Figuring he would stop, I was surprised to see him add more weight and he preceded to do his next set. This time he grabbed his shoulder again, and it was very clear he was in major pain.
Again (sigh…) he added more weight and finished his set.
After benching and causing more pain and probably more damage to his shoulder, he sat down and did behind the next shoulder presses. I was starting to think this was all a joke. If there was an exercise that I could choose to ensure shoulder damage, behind the neck presses would top the list.
After doing a couple of sets, and grabbing his shoulder after each set, he headed to the dip bar. He then did a few sets of dips, and by the time he was finished, he could barely move his shoulder.
Lets summarize…No warm up, no progression, improper technique on the bench, followed by one of the worst exercises you can do for your shoulder (behind the neck presses) and then topped off with dips (another exercise that should be avoided if you have shoulder issues.)
I saw the same guy a week later. His shoulder mobility was worse, and he was in pain from the start of his workout. Yet, he preceded to do the same exact workout.
Are you effing kidding me??
The next time I see him, I think I am going to ask him if he will let me stab him in the shoulder with a rusty screwdriver. He might just let me.

I was always told “no pain no gain”, but this guy has issues. Then again, I was told “exercise shouldn’t hurt.”
Should it hurt a little or none?
