Exercise of the week: Pushup Planks…with pushups!

Want a challenging exercise that will work your core, and entire upper body…as well as challenge your mental toughness

Try this:

Set your timer to count forwards from 0-?? (I’ll explain that in a bit)

· Start in the ‘up’ position of a pushup and hold.

· After 15 seconds, perform 5-10 pushups…when completed, remain in the ‘up’ pushup position

· Hold for 15 more sections and then complete another 5-10 pushups

· Remain holding again in the ‘up’ position

· After another 15 seconds, perform 5-10 pushups

· Continue this cycle for at least 1 minute. If you are advanced, go for 2-3 minutes and up the pushups from 10, to 20.

· Rest for 1 minute and try to complete again (you can lower your time and reps if needed for the second set)

***This is a great way to end your training day. OR…even better way to get started.

Rules:

-Your knees cannot touch the floor until you complete your time

-Do not sacrifice your form just to complete the set. Make sure your back remains tight and your core is locked down and firm.

-Keep your timer going for at least 1 minute (Beginner) and go to 2-3 minutes if advanced.

-Try to beat your time each session

Too many people work their glamor muscles and not their core. I’m guilty of this sometimes too! I’m gonna give these a shot.

    Great post
