Halloween – Where the madness begins

I like Halloween. Always have. Its fun to dress up, see other people’s costumes, go to parties and watch people dress up as all kinds of things. It is a crazy time. Adults can be kids again.
It is also the start of a long run of parties, celebrations, over eating, being too busy to workout, and ultimately the beginning of the end when it comes to staying on your diet, and continuing to reach your fitness goals.
It starts with Halloween candy, continues with Thanksgiving feasts, quickly moves to the consumption of December holiday goodies, and New Years parties, and finally comes to a head with Super Bowl chips and dips, and ultimately ends with what started it, candy…this time Valentines chocolates.
It has become a time-honored tradition to feast more and exercise less during the Fall and Winter months. Needless to say, weight gain goes way up and fitness stalls.
This year, don’t be that person. Take time now to plan your Fall and Winter schedule both in the kitchen and in the gym. Go to your parties, have a blast, but stay on task as much as you can.
Schedule time with your trainer now. Pay for those sessions now. Go out and get moving on your new program now. Sign up for a boot camp, join a gym, purchase an “at-home” training system, just do something to ensure that you wont be that person.
Realize that Halloween can be the start of the end if you are not careful. You will get busy, have less time to exercise, plan your meals and have less energy to spare. Being aware of that fact is the first step…planning to do something about it, is the next and most important step.
Have a great Halloween!
