Brian meant well…I mean, he just wanted to keep training, get big and strong and not worry about the pain he felt in his shoulder. Just one short week ago he came to me and asked me to look at his shoulder.

Brian felt some pain in his shoulder after performing a ‘wide-grip’ bench press exercise. It was obvious that he had some irritation of his rotator cuff. This was backed up by a physical therapist that examined Brian after I did. His next question was “what should I do to fix this?”

I gave him some “corrective” type exercises that would help keep the pain away and allow the inflammation to subside while it healed. We all agreed that he should lay off of pressing motions for a couple of weeks and if he did the exercises, he would be good to go.

A few days later Brian approached me and he could not move his arm. Yes, you guessed it… Brian was stupid. He did 2 days of exercises, felt a little better, and decided that he would not only bench again, but go heavy too. Not smart on his part. Yet again, I gave Brian some valuable advice, not knowing if he would follow it this time…my guess was that he would, after all he had to have learned his lesson, right?

Brian fell into a few different traps with his shoulder. For one, he is young and thinks he is invincible. This is normal for many people, but especially for the young. Second, Brian felt better after only a few days of following my corrective exercises. This is normal too. However, this is where many people make the mistake. The right exercises can take a lot of pain away and do it pretty fast. In Brian’s case, he felt that he was better and could just go back to normal.

It is sad to say that there are way more people like Brian out there than not. A good corrective exercise program can surely reduce a lot of pain, improve function and almost make you feel like nothing has happened. It is important to understand, however, that these exercise protocols need to be followed through, even after you are feeling better.

I have helped people get rid of pain to the point where they forgot they were ever injured. By eliminating the protective the spasm, returning normal function, and reducing a lot of the inflammation, this is more than possible. However, the injury will still take time to heal. There is no good way to speed up the actual healing process too much.

The point here is you always need to follow through on your therapy, or corrective exercise program….to the end. It is like taking anti-biotics…the doctor will always tell you to finish the cycle even if you are feeling better. The same goes for therapy in most cases.

Follow through, be patient and you will get back to “normal” training faster than you think.

In my Unbreakable program, I receive a lot of emails from customers that have finally eliminated their pain and got back to their sport, or fitness routine. I have also gotten quite a few emails from people that have re-injured themselves by not finishing the program and going back too soon. Don’t be that person.

If you want to eliminate your pain and get back to normal function, you can try my Unbreakable system for 60 days and if you don’t like it, or don’t feel like it is helping you “get back in the game” you can get a full refund, no questions asked.
