You’re so Vain…I bet you think this blog is about you

I write many blog posts about personal experiences and people I have worked with, been friends with and things I have witnessed over many years in training. Several times, I will receive an email, get stopped by a client or run into a friend who thinks that a blog that I have written must be about them. Sometimes this is the case, but more often than not, the particular blog is not about one person, more so about a few people, or experiences that I have had over my 18 years working in the field. Much of the time, my blogs are about people I have worked with many years ago, before the internet was around and before people had a forum like a blog to share such experiences.

The truth is, I have trained countless people that have lost large amounts of weight, and many that have had physical issues. Sometimes I will change names (to protect the innocent) or change the years around just so I can avoid singling anyone in particular out in one of my blogs.

Therefore, if you read one of my posts and you think, “is he talking about me,” chances are I am not…not directly. Even though you may have had a very similar experience as the one I am describing, it doesn’t mean it is about you…unless the blog starts with “Yesterday, I was working with a 33 year old house wife that just lost her job.” In a case like that, I will probably get permission or at least give you a heads up before I send your story into cyber space.

99% of the people that I have worked with are more than happy to see their name and experience written about. As a matter of fact, many ask me why I have not written about them at some point. However, there are a few that would rather not be talked about in any way, and that is OK too. Just don’t assume that it is you that I am writing about each time you read about a person who might share a similar story.
